EXPERIENCE
Environmental Systems Engineering Institute Orlando, Florida
Research Assistant 2002 – Present
Performs onsite interpretation and analysis of pilot water treatment and distribution
systems at the Tampa Bay Water Project by the AWWA and government members.
Participate in the management and operation of pilot water treatment plants
and pilot
distribution systems. Involved in the evaluation of physical, chemical, and
biological
stability in water quality resulting from blending of treated ground, surface
and saline
source water. Develop modeling of water quality data from field pilot systems.
Performs the field investigation of membrane processes at the St. Johns River
water supply project by the CH2M Hill. Conducted the water quality analysis
and data collection for the single-element and multi-stage membrane systems.
Participated in the daily operation of the pretreatment systems, RO single-element
units and multistage high recovery systems. Conducted the water productivity
and quality modeling using linear and non-linear statistical regression models.
Performed analysis on water samples: NPDOC by TOC analyzer, color, UV-254,
NOx , chlorine by spectrophotometer, ammonia, alkalinity, turbidity, hardness,
conductivity with analytical standard methods and biological PEPA analysis.
North Carolina State University Raleigh, North Carolina
Graduate Research Assistant 1998 – 2001
Developed a mathematical model for describing the ammonia volatilization from
the swine wastewater lagoons under different lagoon operational conditions.
This model can be used to predict the amount of ammonia emission from lagoons
which is the major pollutant for the eutrophication of aquatic ecosystems.
Built the model chamber to conduct the ammonia dissociation tests from swine
wastewater, performed the ammonia emission procedure in the chamber with test
temperature controlled and established a relatively uniform air flow profile
by
choosing screen fan.
Verified the mathematical model results with the field measurements of ammonia
volatilization rate from swine wastewater lagoons.
Yangshengtang Pharmaceuticals Inc. Hangzhou, China
Assistant Director, 1996 –1997
Responsible for assisting the Director from Environmental Consulting firm in
U.S.A. on technical information database management, project technical supervision,
projects management and processes.
Water Treatment Engineer 1994 –1996
Responsible for control and water quality monitor of the whole process of pure
water treatment including sand filter, activated carbon adsorption, micro-filter,
reverse osmosis and ozone disinfection. Made the output of the pure water
achieved 8.0 MGD.
Participated in the on-site installing and adjusting process of the whole set
of equipments for pure water treatment so that the whole set of equipment can
go into operation without delay. Performed reverse osmosis membrane cleaning
procedures to remove organic and biological fouling.
Xinanjiang Chemical Industrial Inc. Jiande, China
Environmental Engineer, 1992 – 1994
Responsible for water quality monitor and control, managed various physicochemical
wastewater treatment installations and activated sludge systems. Designed and
drafted a total quantity control project of wastewater drainage for use in
the chemical plants.
PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Implemented complete project designs for a water treatment plant with membrane
process. The membrane water treatment designs include Flow Projection, Pretreatment,
RO Membrane Design, Post-treatment, and Cost Estimation.
Developed a wastewater management system to meet the requirements of a water
resources
engineering project. The procedure of development for the system followed Data
Collection,
Goals and Objectives, Alternatives Formulation, Alternatives Constraints, Alternative
Review and Model Optimization. Familiar with the general procedure and format
of NPDES permit regulation.
