EXPERIENCE
Research Assistant
(Aug 2003 - present)
New Mexico Institute of Mining and technology,
Socorro, NM. “ Treatment of Coalbed Methane Produced Water for use in
Irrigation”
•Developed batch, equilibrium adsorption experiments for removal of
sodium using zeolite clinoptiolite.
• Designed bench scale ion-exchange column.
• Performed sodium and magnesium analyses using atomic absorption spectroscopy
and calcium analysis by EDTA titration.
• Used gas adsorption techniques to study the physical characters of zeolite.
• Used STANMOD 2.0 to estimate the transport properties of the zeolite
packed columns.
• Performed comprehensive literature research on topics including coal
bed methane chemistry and treatment methods, arsenic mobilization in groundwater
and soils,
effect of pharmaceutical and personal care products and its by-products on
water bodies.
Research Assistant
(May 2003 - Aug 2003)
New Mexico Institute of Mining and technology,
Socorro, NM. “ Surface Chemistry of SANS”
• Performed acid and base titration
to study the surface chemistry of SANS.
• Used FITEQL to determine the chemical equilibrium constants.
• The mechanism of removal of arsenic by SANS was studied.
Teaching Assistant,
(Aug 2002 - May 2003)
New Mexico Institute of Mining and technology,
Socorro, NM.
•Graded environmental engineering class papers.
• Managed water and wastewater laboratory.
Junior Engineer,
(Aug 2000 – Aug 2002)
Asia Engineering Company,
Chennai, India. • Involved in various ad hoc engineering duties including
field visits, surveys and design calculations.
• Prepared a complete set of detailed reinforced concrete (RC) drawings
for construction of a number of apartment blocks. Prepared schedules for RC constructions.
• Prepared AutoCAD drawings for road infrastructure surrounding an airport
in Trichinapalli.
• Experience in preparing technical reports, checking and comparing tenders
from contractors.
• Assisted in the preparation of schedules, bid preparations, cost estimation,
structural design, sanitary design, land development design, and other Civil
Engineering designs.
• Responsible in monitoring the project, review and proof checking of the
drawings submitted by the consultants. I was also responsible for day-to-day
co-ordination
with Consultants and subcontractors in project execution.
• Designed a four-bedroom independent house, with all facilities like swimming
pool, clubhouse, and gymnasium.
