Job Responsibilities:
Performs complex tasks to ensure compliance with water quality and
environmental regulations within the district. Initiates corrective action for procedural, product, or process deficiencies.
Updates and executes water quality monitoring plan and operation plan to ensure
compliance of regulatory requirements and achieve district water quality objectives.
Updates and executes System Flushing Program and Cross-connection Control Program.
Maintains district databases that may include but not limited to: source water
quality database, cross-connection control database, water quality compliant database, etc.
Prepares reports for compliance purposes that may include but not
limited to: DHS Annual Report, Consumer Confidence Report, Public Health Goal Report, etc.
Researches technical documents and conducts water quality studies to achieve business objectives and goals.
Conducts data analysis, summarizes data with tables and graphs, and
prepares reports and/or presentations to explain causes and effects on water
quality as required by Water Quality Engineer or management.
Coordinates with other departments within the district to
ensure water quality standards and goals are achieved.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. College Degree in
engineering or science related field is highly desirable.
College degree with two years of experience in related fields; Associate degree
with five years of experience in related fields; or high school diploma with three
years of Water Quality Technician II experience or with eight years combined experience
performing complex work in the area of water quality and/or water supply.
Possession of Master's degree in engineering or science related
fields can substitute for two years of work experience.
California DHS Grade 2 Water Treatment Operator Certification preferred.
California DHS Grade 2 Water Distribution Certification or equivalent State certification preferred.
AWWA Cross-connection Control Program Specialist certification preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the compliance of drinking water regulations is highly desirable.
Regulatory agency interaction experience is highly desirable.
Good communication and writing skills are required.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Software including Word and Excel. Experience with Access is preferred.
May include but not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting,
bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, and
crouching, sitting, typing, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening, for extended periods of time.
