Job Responsibilities: The Account Manager will lead the sales efforts in their assigned territory, and will
be responsible for developing and managing channels to market in the area, as well as maintaining responsibility for
overall customer satisfaction and service. The Account Manager will be responsible for calling directly on
utilities, cities, municipalities, developers and any other entities that provide water that must reduce contaminants
to comply with federal or state regulations. In addition, the Account Manager must build relationships with any
alliance partners, consulting engineers or other parties involved in the procurement of such solutions.
Specifically, the Account Manager, will be responsible for the following:
Identify the strategic requirements for penetration of targeted customers within the defined region and the requirements for achieving targeted revenue levels within established time frames.
Identify, initiate contact and build professional business relationships with potential end users of Basin Water's products and services.
Develop the business plan that supports achievement of targeted goals. Manage and coordinate execution of the business plan with all other appropriate departments of the company.
Achieve the Sales Revenue, Entered Order and Gross Profit goals for each market, customer, and product line within the targeted region.
Forecast the revenue potential, gross profit objectives and required time frames by customer, market segment, and product line.
Develop in-depth understanding of selection and buying preferences for new market/segment or product lines from both a technical and commercial
perspective. Develop reliable market research data to judge market and product development strategies.
Identify new business opportunities and develop prospective markets. Provide information to customers, partners, sales channels, publications, associations
and industry insiders to position the company's products and solutions for success.
Proactively manage partners and channels through the complete sales process including proposal development, RFP response and contract/project accomplishment.
Assist in the development of marketing efforts along with strategies to overcome incumbent or potential competitors.
Provide Engineering and other departments with sales, marketing and product requirements for successful project introduction, proposal, development and implementation.
Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of successful selling to municipalities and understand the procurement process and associated laws and restrictions.
Technical knowledge of water treatment processes and equipment, in particular ion exchange and liquids/solids separation, is desirable. Understanding of service sales and contracting practices, including life cycle cost analysis, total cost of ownership analysis and lease versus purchase analysis, are important qualifications for the successful candidate.
The Account Manager must be a self-motivated, energetic, and disciplined sales leader in "solution" sales. They must have well-developed communication skills and the persuasiveness to influence key decision makers up to and including the senior most client leadership. They must have the experience and credibility to work effectively with people throughout the customer and company organizations.
The Account Manager must understand that Basin Water provides a service-based solution as opposed to pure capital equipment placement.
