Job Responsibilities: This is a journey-level maintenance position responsible
for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of
mechanical equipment and systems in Metropolitan's Jensen Water Treatment Plant, performing
under minimum direction. Duties include, but are not limited to maintaining
and repairing mechanical equipment and piping systems related to water
treatment, including: centrifugal, positive displacement, diaphragm, gear, vertical and
multistage pumps; flow control, relief and pressure regulating valves, including: butterfly, plug
and three-way valves; slide gates, flocculators, flash mixers, sludge handling
equipment and traveling bridges; chemical feed systems, including chlorine and
ozone; gear-driven units; and water reclamation systems. Duties also include: welding
and fabrication of plant equipment, including: piping, brackets and platforms; operating overhead and mobile cranes, and forklifts. Will use computerized maintenance management and timekeeping systems to track work and enter time; participate in plant and system shutdowns throughout Metropolitan's service area; and participate in special projects. This position may also be required to perform stand-by duties.
Minimum Requirements: Four years directly related, full-time general maintenance
or specified skill(s) experience. The specified skills required for this
position are journey-level experience in preventative and corrective maintenance
and repair of mechanical equipment and systems directly associated with water treatment plants.
A valid California driver's license Class III (C), or higher, is required.
A Grade II California Water Treatment Operator Certificate (as issued by the State of California) may be required.
