Laboratory Director/Water Operations Assistant Go Back Company: Valparaiso City Utilities Job Location: Valparaiso, IN Salary Range:   $48,000 - $52,000 per year Job Category: Water Utility - Scientists Job Responsibilities: Conduct state certified microbiological analyses of distribution, plant and other water samples that come into the laboratory. Create and monitor operational and capital budgets for both the laboratory and treatment plants. Create standard operation procedures needed by the laboratory to meet ISDH certification standards. Train and supervise operational personnel in the standard operating procedures for the laboratory. Perform all the administrative and support activities associated with the effective and efficient operation of a water treatment laboratory. Monitor the water treatment through routine and nonroutine chemical analysis required by the Safe Drinking Water Act. Generate all compliance reports required by Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Indiana State Department of Health, and Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science from an accredited 4 year college or university. At least 5 year's experience in a water treatment laboratory. Ability to fulfill the requirements for the position of "Laboratory Supervisor" as set forth by the Indiana State Department of Health. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Access. Certification as a water treatment operator is preferred. Must be able to achieve Indiana Department of Environmental Management WT-3 and WT-4 certification through experience and training or reciprocity within two years of hire.
